It’s been two years since the release of Bridgerton, and now Netflix is ready to bring back some more of that period romance with a second season. Here’s our first look at Bridgerton 2:
Here’s the official description:
“Driven by his duty to uphold the family name, Anthony’s search for a debutante who meets his impossible standards seems ill-fated until Kate (Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran) Sharma arrive from India. When Anthony begins to court Edwina, Kate discovers the true nature of his intentions — a true love match is not high on his priority list — and decides to do everything in her power to stop the union. But in doing so, Kate and Anthony’s verbal sparring matches only bring them closer together, complicating matters on both sides. Across Grosvenor Square, the Featheringtons must welcome the newest heir to their estate while Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) continues to navigate the ton whilst keeping her deepest secret from the people closest to her.”
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the series is going to be focusing on a new romance after Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) from the first season. This time around, the story will be focusing on Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), and it will be based on the second novel in Julia Quinn’s series The Viscount Who Loved Me.
While there are some fans that are shocked that characters like Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) won’t be coming back for the second season, it pretty much follows the format of the original book series; in that, each entry will focus on a different Bridgerton sibling’s romance. If this continues, we could be looking at a solid 8-season run for Netflix.
Bridgerton Season 2 comes to Netflix on March 25.
