Closures and New Beginnings
After the turmoils of the past two days, things seemed to be looking up for Booth and Brennan. Aubrey went out of his way to help Booth locate Jared’s ashes, but all that turned up in the search was a box of… marmalade! In order to cheer Booth up, he restoreed his partner’s office back to its former glory and gave it back to him. After all, Booth ‘taught him everything he knows.’ Booth felt very grateful that things can go back to normal – as Brennan would say, ‘routine can be healing in times of stress.’
At the Jeffersonian, Cam came to terms with Arastoo’s departure and admitted to Brennan that she does not blame her for driving a wedge between the two of them. In fact, Cam blames herself for not being more upset that she chose her job over following the man she loves. Brennan suggested that Cam’s guilt does not mean she has made the wrong choice. Should Cam have fought harder to make it work with Arastoo? Or perhaps she will succeed at starting over with someone new?

Hodgins reconciled with Angela after pushing her to exhibit her work, and she eventually yielded to his idea, skeptical that anything will come of it. It seems she was right – the exhibit was only visited by friends and a homeless person who turned out to be none other than Sebastian Cole, a photo journalist who rushed straight to her exhibition after a draining trip abroad. He complimented Angela’s work and asked her to get in touch with him, much to her elation. Could this mean a new chapter for Angela and Hodgins as she will be encouraged to nurture her creative side as a talented photographer? Will she be able to balance it with her duties at the Jeffersonian?
At home, Brennan surprised Booth by telling him that the box containing Jared’s ashes was snatched up by their daughter, Christine, who used it as a ladder to crawl into her little brother’s crib and play with him. Booth was relieved, admitting that he has been projecting his personal loss and grief onto the misplaced ashes, and he was touched that Christine loved her little brother as much as he loved his. He told Brennan that he can wait until tomorrow to open the box, in case Christine wants to ‘visit’ baby Hank again in the morning. It is a strange but comforting thought that in a way, Jared’s passing served to bring his nephew and niece closer to each other. And whatever challenges next week’s case will bring, we know we’ll sleep better knowing Booth and Brennan are back to catching the bad guys.
Bones continues Thursdays on FOX.
