There is no black and white
While tonight’s episode was enjoyable, there seemed to be too much packed into a short amount of time. The case of the week was interesting, but the climax came and went so quickly that it seemed to be kind of a letdown after the buildup.
It will be interesting however to see how long it will take for the team to once again accept Jane. They all seem to very much be taking on the thought that she can only be either good or evil, and nothing in between, all the while seemingly forgetting their own transgressions that took place last season. (Spying on the team to get out of gambling debts for example?) The character of Reade also seems to be going down a dark path this season with the revelation that he could be one of Coach Jones’ victims. A revelation like that can only distract Reade, which will ultimately affect the team. However, the theme of family is constantly running throughout this show, and since the team is like family, they will ultimately rally around him, and help him out.
Jane’s path into the arena of a double agent will also be fun to watch. While Weller’s team is the closest thing she has to family (that she can currently remember), she’s already questioning if the FBI really is the good guy. Or, is Sandstorm the good guy? Again, there’s the aspect of things being black or white, but Jane seems to be stepping back to see the shades of grey between, and where she ultimately stands.
There’s also the question of the mole within the FBI. It was first brought up last week, and Roman again this week begged Shepherd to activate the mole in order to watch Jane. So, who is the mole? Unless we get thrown the lame plot device of it being someone we’ve never met, or meet and then instantly find out they’re the mole, my bet is on Dr. Borden. Borden is the only one who is privy to everyone’s personal thoughts – the thoughts they don’t share with anyone else. Nas might be on to him however, which is why she somehow had recordings of his sessions, and this could be why Borden is moving forward with Patterson. Sure, we saw the inklings of a friendship between the two last year, but Patterson is the only one so far who is seemingly becoming friends with Nas. And if Borden’s with Patterson, he’ll have access to Nas.
Finally, before we wrap up for this week, I have to say, my favorite tweet seen on the Blindspot thread this week? A young fan who thought Oregon Trail was a record album. Ah, to be young again. Until next week, everyone!
