[SPOILERS FOR BLACK ADAM]
Despite the spoiler warning, the internet pretty much knows that Henry Cavill makes a return as Superman in Black Adam, but did you know that it was almost another faceless cameo?
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Black Adam cinematographer Lawrence Sher revealed that they originally planned for a double to appear as Superman, with just his logo shown and his face hidden in the shadows. They apparently shot the sequence, but ultimately decided on bringing Cavill back. Sher explains:
“I went to a test screening in which they did the version without his head and it played gangbusters… Then it was like, ‘Now we got to get Henry.'”

Though Superman did make cameos in Shazam! and Peacemaker, they were all faceless cameos since the future of Henry Cavill in Man of Steel was still pretty murky. With the Rock apparently insisting on bringing Cavill back and even going over DC’s ex-president Walter Hamada’s head, it now looks like Cavill is ready for another Superman appearance in the future. Let’s hope we don’t have to wait too long, since fans have already been waiting years or the Man of Steel sequel.
We don’t know when Superman is set to come back to the big screen again, but it’s said that WB is now working on the script and Mission: Impossible director Christopher McQuarrie is being eyed to pen it.
No solid dates have been set, but you can watch out for Cavill in Black Adam now showing in theaters.
