Black Adam Bows to No One in New Trailer

DC may have pushed back The Flash and Aquaman 2, but they’re finally ready to drop the Black Adam solo movie starring Dwayne Johnson. Just in, we have our first full trailer and it features a lot of Adam and the rest of the JSA.
Watch this:
Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods — and imprisoned just as quickly — Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.
While Superman is supposed to be the ideal hero, we can see that the film wants to lean in on Black Adam’s harsh origin, in that he grew up a slave and became a ruthless warrior hero. We don’t know exactly how he’s brought back to life, but based on his lines, he’s going to be someone way more rough on his enemies than the Man of Steel.
There’s also the case of the JSA. We don’t really know how the factor into the story, but it does sound like Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate is trying to recruit Adam to work for good. If that doesn’t turn out well though, I can pretty much imagine there’s going to be one huge clash.
Though Adam is defined as an antihero in the comics, I can imagine that the Rock would want him to be on the right side of good and evil by the end of the film. I’m just hoping he manages to go off-brand this time and pull off a more morally gray character—like Joaquin Phoenix in Joker.
Black Adam hits theaters on Oct. 21.
