Mia wakes up with a splitting headache. She looks around and realizes she’s in class. However, she doesn’t even know the person sitting beside her though the person seems to know her. She looks confused as to what is happening, so she calls Niklas. But because her phone is dying, she decides to go to their apartment. Her key isn’t working, so she asks her roommates to open the door for her. A woman opens the door asking who she is. The flat is being renovated, and the people there say nobody lives there. Mia is surprised to hear that it’s already mid-January because she believes it’s only October.
All her data gets deleted when she charges her phone in the hallway. So, she goes back to where Niklas lives to talk to him. A hand grabs her from behind, and she turns around to find Jasper laughing at her. He says he’s only trying to kiss her. Mia is confused because she’s with Niklas. Jasper says Mia’s already forgiven him, and they are now a couple. Niklas, on the other hand, has moved away. Mia says she doesn’t know what’s happening and can’t remember anything. She gets dizzy again, and her nose starts bleeding, so Jasper brings her to a hospital. After a series of tests, everything comes out normal. Even her MRI comes out normal. Mia sees the letters S O N on her left arm and tries to remove them. Jasper says it’s a tattoo, but Mia has told him before she didn’t know how she got it. Mia doesn’t want to be with Jasper because the last thing she remembers is him trying to kill her. She wants to go home alone but realizes she doesn’t even know where she lives.
When she gets home, she cries seeing all her friends there. They have moved to a different house, but they still live together. They are surprised that Mia doesn’t remember anything from the past three months because she seemed happy. They say that after Mia saved the people on the train, she sent them a message saying she had to go into quarantine. She was gone for three days. Not only that, but she also took down Dr. Lorenz. Now, she can’t do research or enter a lab. Chen-Lu tells Mia to talk to her psychiatrist, but Mia doesn’t even remember she has one. She apologizes to Chen-Lu for ignoring her for the past months.
Chen-Lu takes Mia to her psychiatrist, Dr. Reuther. Dr. Reuther reminds Mia that she was sent there by the university after she reported Dr. Lorenz. Dr. Reuther was to help Mia cope with her emotions. Mia looks at the notes her doctor’s been writing for the past months. Dr. Reuther says that Mia’s memories are not gone; she just can’t access them. Mia says she wants to remember what happened. Her doctor says triggering can help her remember. She has to recreate similar situations that can trigger her memories. With Jasper’s help, Mia tries to recreate some of her memories. She remembers being inside a van and meet someone by the lake. But she doesn’t remember who she was with at both times. That night, as she looks at Dr. Lorenz’s photo, a memory comes back to her. She remembers that Dr. Lorenz was with her in the van. She goes back to her house that night to talk to her. Unfortunately, Dr. Lorenz’s house and lab were both demolished.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lorenz lives with her mom again. She talks to her lawyer to ask for an update about her case. Her lawyer admits that a source said the DA wants to set a precedent. He’s aiming for the maximum sentence, even a life sentence. Dr. Lorenz seems sure that the DA will make an offer, but her lawyer thinks otherwise. That night, Mia wakes up and remembers how she got the tattoo on her arm.
Our Thoughts:
Wow. This episode raises a lot of questions. So Mia just woke up and claimed she doesn’t remember anything that happened to her for the past three months. But then it seemed like she was living her life those past three months. So, how come that one day she just realized that she doesn’t know what happened to her? What about the day before that? Something must have happened to her after she was kidnapped. And she doesn’t remember anything from that time. Maybe they did something to her.
And Dr. Lorenz’s fall from where she used to be was a long way down. She had her own house and her lab, and people looked up to her. Then after Mia reported her and her project, she lost everything. The part where Mia did that is missing, though. It happened during those past three months. It must be very confusing for Mia just to wake up one day and not know what’s happening. But one of the good things here is that she still lives with her friends. We were a bit worried she lost them too.
