Happy New Year! This episode Shannon and Fadra talk about the best of 2017 and a look forward to 2018. Listen in to find out what we loved, didn’t love, and our plans for this year.
Hey – wanna meet up with us? We’re headed to a bunch of FanCons this year including AwesomeCon, WizardWorld, StrangerCon and Heroes & Villains Fan Fest.
Can we ask you a favor? We would love it if you could give us a quick review on iTunes! It would really help us to bring you more entertainment news and discussion. And we have big plans for 2018 to get more guests, interview celebrities from fan conventions, and bring you video reviews!
7:13 What are we watching?
- Dark: This Netflix original is a supernatural thriller involving time travel and kids that go missing mysteriously. We give it a thumbs up.
- Outlander: Shannon just wrapped up season three of the Starz original. (Note: we mistakenly attribute this to Showtime.) It’s about a woman who travels from the 20th century to the 18th and finds the love of her life. The third season had some elements that were a little ridiculous, but Shannon still enjoyed it.
- Black Mirror season four is out now and we are excited!
- The Indian Detective: Netflix recommended this to Fadra. Only four episodes, a nice, light dramedy.
- Marvel’s Runaways is a Hulu original that’s intense, but not too mature. A group of teens stumble upon a secret their parents are trying to conceal. Fadra loves it!
- Trollhunters is an entertaining, animated show on Netflix.
- The Toys That Made Us: Each episode focuses on a different genre of toys. Episode one was about Star Wars toys. So fun and nostalgic! On Netflix.
- The Walking Dead: We catch up on Fadra’s progress. She’s at the beginning of Season six and she thought Glenn died.
24:05 Last movie seen?
- The Greatest Showman: A sweet, uplifting movie. The story of P.T. Barnum and his circus.
- Pitch Perfect 3: Great closure for this series. Pitch Perfect is one of Shannon’s all-time favorites, but the second one was not great. Fans will be pleased with the final movie.
- The Disaster Artist: You don’t have to have seen the Tommy Wiseau film, The Room, but you need to be familiar with it (just google worst movie ever made); this was a family movie.
- Jumanji – Welcome to the Jungle: Good popcorn entertainment for the whole family, loved the cast.
27:32 What’s coming up?
- Ocean’s 8: Sandra Bullock leads an awesome cast.
- Mama Mia – Here We Go Again: Is this a sequel? Prequel? Reboot? We’re not sure, and we’re not sure we care.
- Nutcracker: Disney is showing the dark side of the Nutcracker story… looks like they’re making it creepy.
- Love, Simon: The struggles of a gay teenage boy. Looks funny and light.
- Overboard: A remake with male/female roles switched.
- Queer Eye is getting a reboot on Netflix.
- Jessica Jones season 2 coming March 2018 on Netflix.
- Seven Seconds: In a society fraught with racial tension, sensational headlines, and an audience who would rather be entertained than informed, seven seconds can mean life or death. 2/23/18
- Ready Player One: Fadra is listening to the audio book and we’re both super-excited about this movie coming out in March, directed by Steven Spielberg.
