Ben Affleck and Ana der Armas are in a Troubled Marriage in Teaser for Deep Water

Ben Affleck had played a guy in a troubled marriage back in 2014 with Gone Girl, but it looks like he’s going to be playing the part of a disgruntled husband again with this upcoming film on Hulu called Deep Water.

The synopsis reads:

Vic and Melinda Van Allen are a couple in the small town of Little Wesley. Their loveless marriage is held together only by a precarious arrangement whereby, in order to avoid the messiness of divorce, Melinda is allowed to take any number of lovers as long as she does not desert her family. Vic becomes fascinated with the unsolved murder of one of Melinda’s former lovers, Malcolm McRae, and, in order to successfully drive away her current fling, takes credit for the killing. When the real murderer is apprehended, Vic’s claims are interpreted by the community as dark jokes.

This is probably awkward to watch for anyone who knows that Affleck and de Armas actually dated in real-life (they have since broken up). The movie was actually shot in November 2019, around the time that the two were dating.

We haven’t seen any promotion for the film from either Affleck or de Armas, but it looks like the two have moved on—with Affleck even getting back together with his ex, Jennifer Lopez. De Armas, on the other hand, is said to have started dating the VP of Tinder, Paul Boukadakis.

Deep Water streams on Hulu this coming March 18.
