Believe it or Not … The Greatest American Hero Gets Reboot Treatment

If you’re old enough to remember the 1980’s then you may recall a TV show called The Greatest American Hero, in which regular joe Ralph Hinkley (William Katt) is bestowed with a superhero’s suit by benevolent aliens.
The suit is capable of giving Ralph amazing powers including flight, levitation, mind control and a host of other too good to be true abilities.
The only problem is that Ralph has lost the suit’s instruction book and without it, struggles (with often hilarious results) to become the hero he should have been.
The TV show also starred Robert Culp as Ralph’s grumpy side-kick, FBI agent Bill Maxwell, and Connie Sellecca as his long-suffering girlfriend.
If it all sounds ripe for a reboot, then rejoice because FOX has a ‘put pilot order’ (a guarantee that episodes will see the light of day) for a remake.
As before, the show will focus on a mild-mannered school-teacher who inherits superpowers. This time round, Ralph is Isaac, an inner-city school teacher, a fact which may help give the show an edgier 21st Century setting.
The Lego Movie writer/directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will helm the project, written by Rodney Rothman (22 Jump Street).
More as we have it.
