The final “Beauty and the Beast” trailer was released via social media on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube as well. As soon as it was posted, the trailer garnered about ten million views on Facebook and 17,000 likes on Twitter. Unsurprisingly, it’s listed as one of Twitter’s trending topics with the hashtag: #BeautyandtheBeast.
The trailer debuted on Monday during the episode of “The Bachelor” on ABC. The two-minute trailer opens with her father Maurice (Kevin Kline) speaking to Belle, introducing her as a lady with so much potential– the village too small for what she is capable of doing and learning, but reassures her that “small also means safe”.
The scene then shifts to Gaston, complimenting himself again saying: “You are the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen. Nobody deserves you.” A scene that will surely get the girls go gaga– because for Luke Evans, the statement isn’t far from the truth.
When Belle’s father is chased by the a pack of wolves in the forest, he is captured by the beast. Just like the 1991 film, Belle comes to her father’s rescue and finally encounters the Beast for the first time. In this meeting, she whispers, “come into the light” and the beast reveals himself, illuminated by the flames of the candle. This is the first appearance of the Beast on the trailer.
Whilst all of this, Belle is introduced to Lumiere, Mrs. Potts and Cogsworth. The plot becomes more interesting as these conventionally inanimate objects speak and interact with her–even sharing the mysterious story of the red rose she found deep within the castle.
Belle’s understanding of this will lead to two things: the Beast getting cranky at her (which is a natural occurrence) and a deeper level of sympathy from Belle for her prisoner. From here on out, romance fills our screens as these two opposite worlds collide and combust into something warm and inviting–love.
Emma Watson Sings On ‘Beauty And the Beast’
Emma Thompson is widely known in her role as Hermione in the Harry Potter franchise. In all those years, fans have never heard her carry a tune except for a few notes in “Noah” in 2014.
Billboard says there are two songs in the film that Emma Watson fans have to look out for. Emma will be providing her own vocals in Belle’s singing parts like the song “Belle” and “Something There.” The voice actress of the 1991 animated film of Beauty and the Beast, Paige O’Hara even offered to help in the shaping of her vocals to Belle-perfection.
“Beauty and the Beast” hits US theaters on March 17 and Philippine theaters on March 15.
