Barry Manilow Comes Out Publicly About Relationship

Barry Manilow finally confirms he is gay and married. After decades of hiding his private life, he finally opens up about his sexuality and secret gay relationship. Barry had been in a 40-year same-sex relationship with Barry Manilow Productions and Stiletto Entertainment President Garry Kief.
Barry Manilow breaks decades-long silence about sexuality
The singer and Kief met in 1978, after his big hits “Mandy” and his remake of “Copacabana.” Barry made Kief his manager since then. Manilow said that he feared that his fans would be disappointed upon knowing that he was gay. According to Los Angeles Times, Manilow and Kief got married in April 2014 through a surprise ceremony witnessed by a few guests at their Palm Strings Estate.
Manilow was able to contain the ceremony and prevented it from getting on the news. But in 2015, it was leaked online by Daily Mail. Manilow said that the leak had been both a blessing and a curse. Given that he had to keep his private life for so long and finally coming out. However, his worries were then alleviated upon hearing beautiful reactions from people.
Fanilows got Manilow worried
Manilow recalls that he worried about Kief getting out of the relationship after attending a Manilow concert. Incidentally, the behavior of his “Fanilows” after him getting into the car they started shaking the car. This somehow made Kief say “I can’t handle this, it’s not for me.”
But then the singer is glad and grateful that he still stayed. The couple remains together despite Kief’s initial lack of comfort with Manilow’s fame. Today, Manilow is on the cover of People Magazine talking about his private life and love. Saying, “He’s the smartest person I’ve ever met in my life — and a great guy, too.”
