Barbie Ferreria’s Kat was considered one of the main characters of the first season of Euphoria, but her role was greatly diminished when it came to the second season. Now, as it turns out, we may not be seeing anymore of Kat at all.
As per an announcement on her IG stories, Ferreria has revealed that she won’t be in the next season of the hit HBO show. She writes:
“After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye. I hope many of you could see yourself in her like I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”

Back in February, reports were coming out that Ferreria had actually clashed behind the scenes with show creator Sam Levinson, and that’s what led to Kat’s minimized role in the second season. We don’t know if this relationship with Levinson is the reason that Ferreria left the part, but a lot of fans are certainly pissed that she won’t be appearing in the next season anymore.
While we got to watch Kat completely transform herself as an online dominatrix in the first season, the second season found her arc diminished with her gaslighting her theater kid boyfriend while breaking up with him. It’s certainly a low point for the character, but we don’t know how they’ll write her off for the next season.
For now we don’t know what to expect for the next season of Euphoria, but I’m sure a lot of people will be tuned in for this surreal, artsy, high school drama.
Catch two season of Euphoria now streaming on HBO Max.
