Barbie and Ken are Radical Roller Buddies in New Set Photos

The reveals for Barbie may have been slow, but more set photos are managing to find their way online, and the latest one has Barbie and Ken in matching roller blade outfits.

Based on all the other costumes that we’ve seen from the film, it looks like the movie is going to be embracing the toyline’s very colourful outfits. Since fashion is one of the big selling points of Barbie, we can imagine that the film is going to be leaning in on that a lot.

So far, set photos from the film have had Margot Robbie only appearing with Ryan Gosling, so it’s very likely that the two will be sharing a lot of scenes together. It’s actually great how they are also putting Ken in all the matching colourful outfits as well, and I’m excited to see Gosling bring the character to life. He may be the star of serious films like Blade Runner and Drive, but he’s also managed to show off his funny side once in a while.

With a release date set for next year, it’s possible we’ll have to wait a while before we get an official look at Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. While I am expecting the film to sell toys for Mattel, I think having Gerwig at the helm means there’s going to be some interesting take when it comes to the story of Barbie and how she’s managed to be an icon for modern-day women—despite not being a real person.

Barbie is set to hit theaters on July 21, 2023.
