Avengers Directors The Russo Brothers would Love to Take on Batman

The Russo Brothers may not be working on any comic book movie films right now, but they have teamed up with Amazon Prime Video for the upcoming series Citadel. Though they’ve pretty much solidified their status on the Marvel side of things, fans are wondering who they would want to take on should they work for DC—and they have an answer.

Talking to ComicBook, Joe and Anthony Russo revealed that they would love to take on Batman if they had the chance. When asked, Joe replied, “… favorite DC characters? I mean, man. There are so many good ones. I always answer based on the comics I collected as a kid, and the two comics I collected the most were Spider-Man — actually, the three — were Spider-Man. X-Men and Batman. But there have been a lot of iterations of Batman, so I feel like that’s an obvious answer.”

Anthony adds, “Batman would be my favorite character for my entire childhood. But obviously, it’s been well explored.”

For now, James Gunn and Peter Safran are looking to reboot Superman and Batman for DC Studios. We know that Gunn himself is going to be helming Superman: Legacy, but we have yet to get a director for Batman: The Brave and the Bold; we don’t know much about specifics of the film, but the movie is said to tackle Bruce Wayne meeting his assassin-raised son Damien, who becomes his own iteration of Robin.

Being a silent Snyder supporter, I was not too thrilled when it was announced they were going to reboot everything, but I am willing to wait and see what Gunn pulls off in this first chapter of his DC universe.

No release date has been set for Batman: The Brave and the Bold. The Russo Brothers’ Citadel premieres on Amazon Prime Video on April 28.
