Believe it or not, Avatar: The Way of Water is currently the third highest-grossing film of all time, and the movie is finally gearing up for a home release.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, James Cameron’s return to Pandora will be available to buy on digital this coming March 28. Though the movie is already pretty lengthy, Disney and 20th Century Studios are said to be including three hours-worth of bonus material that could cover the making of the movie, including the advancements of VFX and the creation of the new clans including the Metkayina.
There’s even said to be an entire segment on the character of Spider (the human boy Jake’s family adopts) played by Jack Champion. With him being the son of the series’ Darth Vader Colonel Quaritch, it’s probably safe to say that he could end up being the Luke Skywalker of the franchise; then again, it feels like the story belongs more to Jake and his family—specifically Sigourney Weaver’s character Kiri.
I’ll admit, I’m still pretty surprised that The Way of Water managed to succeed as much as it did. While the movie itself was solid, the film was basically out of the online conversation by February. I guess it just goes to show that Twitter doesn’t really affect what’s happening in the real world.
Hopefully we get a look at the third movie soon as well. Avatar: The Way of Water comes to digital on March 28.
