Avatar 2 Trailer will Allegedly Release in Theaters Exclusively Ahead of Doctor Strange 2

Though it has been said that Avatar 2 is coming out later this year, the lack of marketing for the movie has led some to believe that the film has been delayed. Rumor has it though, that we could be getting our first glimpse of the movie this May.

According to The Ankler (via @davechensky), Disney could be choosing to release the first teaser for Avatar 2 exclusively in theaters ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While nothing official has been confirmed, this does seem like a common practice with highly-anticipated films; Christopher Nolan’s Tenet got the treatment, as well as DC’s Birds of Prey.

Seeing that Multiverse of Madness was riding off the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it would make sense for Disney to try and market another one of their biggest films with another blockbuster. Not only would more audiences be able to get a glimpse at Avatar, but some are also guessing that more fans would go to theaters just to see the trailer.

I’ll admit, Avatar’s rep is not as huge as it once was, but it looks like director James Cameron is dead set on bringing back his most successful IP ever since Avengers: Endgame managed to beat Avatar’s box office record. Personally, I thought the movie was just okay, but the way the visuals were, it’s a film that definitely demands being seen in a theater.

For now, Avatar 2 is set to come out Dec. 16. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is slated for a May 6 release.
