It’s An Attack Of The Incredibly Talented Teens On The Voice Season 12

The Voice Season 12 premiered this week with three episodes of blind auditions and already one thing is certain – this season is chock-full of teenage talent. To take a quote from Adam, “What are they feeding these kids?!” Thanks to a recent rule change, the age for auditioning has lowered from 15 to 13 years old. Cue an influx of some amazing teenage vocalists, including the youngest contestant in The Voice history.

Check out the blind auditions of The Voice’s talented teens below:

16-year-old Anatalia Villaranda – Runaway Baby, Bruno Mars

Imagine a spunky 4’9” ray of sunshine in human form and you have 16-year-old Anatalia Villaranda. Her energy never once faltered during her enthusiastic, powerful version of Bruno Mars’ “Runaway Baby.” But it wasn’t just Anatalia’s big voice that won her a four-chair turn and impressed the judges: her family’s heartwarming support also charmed them. With four coaches vying for her attention, Anatalia eventually picked Team Alicia.

15-year-old Aliyah Moulden – Hound Dog, Big Mama Thornton

With a voice whose maturity belied her true age, Aliyah Moulden astonished the judges with a rhythmic take on Big Mama Thornton’s “Hound Dog.” Alicia, Gwen and Blake all turned their chairs for this talented teen. While initially favoring Team Alicia, Aliyah ultimately – and surprisingly – chose Blake as her coach. A fan of The Voice, she had noticed how Blake truly cared about his team in previous seasons. Despite some strong offers from Alicia and Gwen, that was enough to win her over.

16-year-old Savannah Leighton – Unconditionally, Katy Perry

This 16-year-old talent won over both Gwen and Blake with her rendition of Katy Perry’s “Conditionally.” Despite some pitchiness, Savannah Leighton’s potential shone through and The Voice’s lovebirds hilariously duked it out for her vote. After her performance, Savannah’s nerves finally got the better of her and Gwen went on stage to give her a comforting hug. That moment must have stuck with Savannah because when the time came, she was Team Gwen all the way.

13-year-old Quizz Swanigan – Who’s Lovin’ You, Jackson 5

The Michael Jackson feels are through the roof with this one. At an astonishing 13 years old, Quizz Swanigan is the youngest contest in The Voice history. His song choice suited him perfectly: a fresh and innocent take on the Jackson 5 song “Who’s Lovin’ You.” Quizz’s ridiculous runs and fluid vocals had both Alicia and Gwen turning their chairs. In the end, Quizz picked Team Alicia, though he also thanked Gwen for teaching him how to spell “bananas.” (See: “Hollaback Girl.”)

Team Rosters As Of March 2 On ‘The Voice’ Season 12

So far, only Adam hasn’t recruited a teen to his side. He currently has four singers, an eclectic bunch that includes a budding teen idol and a steel guitarist. Lovebirds Blake and Gwen have one teen each. Blake has five members on his team, most gained through their country connection. Team Gwen has four singers, including teenage Savannah Leighton. Watch out for smooth powerhouse JChosen. Last but not least, Alicia has two teens on her team of five. With a combination of eloquent arguments and her own vocal chops, she’s been steadily gathering some real heavy-hitters on her side. Could this be the season of Alicia? Time will tell.
