Armie Hammer Debunks False Batman Casting Rumors

After numerous fan and news sites reported that Call Me By Your Name’s Armie Hammer is in talks to fill in the Batman role after Ben Affleck’s departure, the actor has finally spoken out and refuted the casting rumors.
Of course, Hammer is a Batman fan favorite, given how he almost played the Dark Knight in the big screen back in George Miller’s shelved 2007 Justice League: Mortal project. Speculations about the actor being offered the role again grew strong when Affleck officially announced that he’s no longer playing Batman on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Despite the massive fan campaign, it seems like Warner Bros. and The Batman director Matt Reeves hasn’t responded (at least not yet).
Yesterday, DC fans were sent on a frenzy when it was reported that Hammer was in talks to play the role. Although multiple reputable sources refuted the claim, it was a bit hard to believe since neither the actor nor WB issued any statement.
But in an interview with Yahoo News, Hammer finally settled the debate. “No one who can actually give me the job has asked me if I’m interested,” Hammer said. “I don’t even know if they are done – they are still working on a script.”
Despite the statement, though, it seems as if Hammer does want to play Batman. “I don’t think that they are close to production, but I can conclusively tell you that no one has checked my availability, which is a bummer,” Hammer lamented.
With Hammer’s Batman casting still left to speculation, it won’t be soon before Reeves or WB announces the new Batman actor since the film is scheduled for a June 2021 release. Reeves is also looking for a younger actor to play the character, and there have been numerous fan castings supporting that decision.
But no matter what happens, we’re still betting on team Hammer.
