Ari Aster’s Beau is Afraid Starring Joaquin Phoenix Shares First Poster

Everyone is excited for Joaquin Phoenix to return as Joker, but he’s teamed up with horror auteur Ari Aster for his next movie Beau is Afraid.

Just in, A24 has shared the first poster for the movie, and it features what some assume is Joaquin Phoenix as a child. Check this out:

We don’t have an official description for the movie yet, but Vulture has cited that the film’s plot ‘is described as an intimate, decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time.’

Besides Phoenix, the movie also stars Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan, and Parker Posey.

Though we don’t have a story yet, I’m sure just the mention of Aster at the helm is going to get fans interested. With films like Hereditary and Midsommar under his belt, Aster has managed to create a very unique voice in the horror genre, and more and more horror stories have been leaning in on the ‘atmospheric’ horror with the overwhelming sounds and sudden, subtle violence.

Personally, I’m not a fan of the horror genre, but Aster’s films always manage to spark up the conversation about cinema, and each of them are undoubtedly unique experiences. Sure I have some issue with his dialogue, but when it comes to the scares, they always manage to stick with you even hours after you leave the cinema.

No specific release date has been revealed for Beau is Afraid, but we can expect the film to hit theaters sometime in 2023.
