One of the weirdest characters to come out of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania was MODOK and he was a highlight for a lot of fans who had seen the movie.
What’s interesting is, screenwriter Jeff Loveness has shared a photo of the VFX model for MODOK, and it gives us an idea of what the character looked like in development. Check this out:
Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is out tonight! I love this movie so much! Go have fun! Pretend you’re 12. Laugh in a theatre full of strangers at big jokes and weird little guys. We are all MODOK. pic.twitter.com/v9aKzcPf4R

I’ll admit, the character looked pretty off (even by MODOK terms) when he showed up in the movie, but the VFX model kind of explains what happened. The model was given exaggerated features that were comic-accurate, then they took actor Corey Stoll’s face and morphed it around the model.
It’s kind of a bummer that they ended up killing off MODOK in the movie, but with enough fan appreciation and the introduction of multiverses, I think it’s possible that we could get a MODOK variant that’s just as silly, and maybe this time he could be running AIM.
If anything, fans should definitely check out the cancelled MODOK series on Hulu, which fully embraces the silliness of the character. Patton Oswalt voices this version of MODOK, and it’s pretty interesting that he should be a comic book villain with some serious family drama happening on the side.
Ant-Man and the Wasp find themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that pushes them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.
For now, catch the Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania now showing in theaters.
