The successful Annabelle films starring the infamous sinister doll from the Conjuring universe is back and ready to do some damage. Annabelle Comes Home just released its second trailer in the latest installment of the Mystery/Horror franchise. Gary Dauberman, the screenwriter for the Annabelle films, IT, and The Nun, makes his directorial debut on the film, which is produced by Peter Safran of the ‘Conjuring’ franchise and Conjuring universe creator James Wan.
A Horror-Fest Universe
Annabelle starts with the same opening scene of the film ‘The Conjuring’, where two young women and a man tell Ed and Lorraine Warren about their experiences with a doll they believe is haunted.
One year earlier, John and Mia Gordon are expecting a child. John decides to gift his wife a vintage doll. Little do they know, the doll is possessed and is now terrorizing the Gordon family. Annabelle: Creation begins twelve years after the tragic death of their daughter Bee, where doll-maker Samuel Mullins and his wife Esther open up their home to a nun and six orphaned girls. The crippled girl named Janice goes into Bee’s forbidden room and finds Annabelle. Janice is then haunted by the demonic force she unleashed.
The Conjuring universe continues to grow. Recently, we’ve seen the release of The Nun and The Curse of La Llorona; and in June, Annabelle Comes Home will hit theaters. The trailer is setting the basis for future Conjuring movies. The next movie in this connected horror universe will be The Conjuring 3, which is set for release in September 2020.
