Animated Avatar: The Last Airbender Movie Gets 2025 Release Date

The adventures of Aang may have ended back in 2008, but Avatar: The Last Airbender remains to be one of the most beloved animated series to ever grace screens. With Avatar Studios set to make an animated Avatar film for the big screen, we now have a release date set for Aang and Team Avatar’s next adventure.

As per Variety, the currently untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender sequel is set to release on October 10, 2025. We don’t have any details when it comes to the story, but it is said that the movie will center on the original Team Avatar consisted of Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and probably Zuko. With the comics pretty much picking up where the kids are after the war, some speculate that this sequel will focus on an adult team Avatar—maybe we can even meet Aang and Katara’s kids Bumi, Kya, and Tenzin.

If this movie comes out in 2025 as planned, it would have been fifteen years since the release of the live-action Last Airbender movie which was critically panned when it came out in theaters. With Avatar creatores Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko steering the Avatar Studios ship, a lot of fans are hoping we can get a Star Wars-level franchise going with the series, especially with the richness of the lore and potential for multiple eras focused on different Avatars.
