Good news for “Anabelle” fans out there! After “The Conjuring” started a huge franchise of horror films and a spinoff series for the creepy doll itself, we’re now learning about the “Anabelle” sequel’s new title. The upcoming sequel is directed by David F. Sanberg (Lights Out) and written by Gary Dauberman.
Get Ready for Anabelle: Creation
Yep, you read that right! “Anabelle 2” will be focusing on how the doll was made and it’s maker. He invites a nun and a couple of young girls into his home after they were forced to leave an orphanage. That’s when the demonic doll wreaks havoc and begins terrorizing the maker and his guests, hence the title of the sequel.
In a report by Deadline, Warner Bros. announced Wednesday during its CinemaCon session in Las Vegas that “Anabelle 2” is now titled “Anabelle: Creation.”After writing the script for the first movie, Dauberman resumes his scripting for the new cast including Miranda Otto (Eowyn in “Lord of the Rings”).
As for the cast, few details have been revealed. Otto will be joined by Stephanie Sigman (Narcos), Lulu Wilson (Ouija: Origin of Evil), and veteran actor Anthony LaPaglia (Without A Trace).
There are a lot of expectations for the sequel, as its predecessor didn;t do well on the box office two years ago. While “Anabelle” did feature an edge-of-your-seat scare for franchise fans, it kind of lacked the freshness and authenticity that made “The Conjuring” a hit. Here’s to hoping that “Anabelle: Creation” delivers more than what the marketing build-up is trying to achieve.
