“American Idol” has already found its new home on ABC, and now we’re nearing towards a premiere date. The famous singing competition show is set to premiere on March 11, 2018, at 8 PM. Long-time Idol host Ryan Seacrest announced it this morning on “Live with Kelly & Ryan,” and he is set to host the show once again.
It was reported back in May this year that “American Idol” will be moving to a new network, and countless rumors of judges have been circulating ever since. The show ended its initial run on FOX back in 2016, with Trent Harmon as the last winner of the show’s final season.
With Idol’s return to ABC, three judges have been confirmed—the first one being Katy Perry, followed by Lionel Richie and most recently, country singer Luke Bryan. Perry commented on the panel’s chemistry in an October interview with Billboard, saying, “This is the dream team. I think the great American dream, we can revive that in a way and show people that if they have the talent, if they work really hard and if we can give them that lucky star and the combination of those three things maybe we can give them kind of like a little platform to just shine… we’re here to really make dreams come true and to hopefully find that American Idol.”
Further details on the “American Idol” have yet to be revealed in the coming months, but it’s definitely an exciting thing to look out for next year. Auditions, on the other hand, have been ongoing for three months at 23 stops, and the premiere episode will be a 2-hour pilot. Fans can also join the auditions on social media by using the hashtag #TheNextIdol.
