Two familiar faces are returning and one fresh blood is debuting once AHS Season 10 premieres. FX’s American Horror Story just added newcomer Macaulay Culkin to the cast, while alum Evan Peters and Kathy Bates make their way to the new season after sitting out season 9.
AHS creator Ryan Murphy posted the announcement through a video on his Instagram page. Names of the upcoming cast members were slowly revealed to the tune of Orville Peck’s “Dead of Night” and ominous footage of waves crashing on the beach. It’s hard to tell what this might have to do with American Horror Story season 10 given Murphy’s penchant for dropping AHS teasers that are hard to decipher until the proper title reveal comes.

Among the cast members returning are Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Sarah Paulson, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock. With Peters and Bates back to help bring more terror to the show, it’s interesting to see how Culkin’s role would play out as well. AHS Season 10 marks the actor’s first series regular starring role.
The American Horror Story-related good news seems to keep on coming. Back in January, FX announced during the Television Critics Association Winter press tour that AHS has been renewed for three more seasons ahead of season 10. Paulson also took the opportunity to announce her return to the show (and express her desire to star in seasons 11, 12, and 13 too). Paulson has no idea what her role for season 10 might be, but she did say that it’s going to be a major character. “I can confirm that I will be in next season,” Paulson said. “I have no idea what it will be… But I’m not coming back as a guest part, I will be a central character.”
Peters, Paulson, and Bates all sat out last season’s amazing entry, 1984. It also saw new faces and was able to wrap up to bloody slasher to a glorious ending. Aside from the casting announcement, no other details were revealed in the video. We are once again left wondering what new horrors and timeline Murphy will be exploring in American Horror Story Season 10—however soon that might be.
