“Aquaman” is currently undergoing production in Australia, and now the world is shook by a few photos of Mera that recently surfaced online. Fans are building up the hype as an overall social media storm over Atlantis continues to brew.
The aquatic superhero is one of the most-awaited films for casual fans and solid comic book fans alike. It’s been a long time coming since “Aquaman” has never been seen on the big screen until now. Though the first real outing of the DC superhero comes later this year with “Justice League,” the opportunity to see him gloriously in his own movie is a truly exciting feat.
Dropping Aquaman Details One Wave At A Time
Marketing buildup has been focused on “Aquaman” actor Jason Momoa so far, but as production is underway, more characters are popping up at random. We can almost expect the coming months to feature each character in a new photo or footage, especially “Black Manta.”
However, Actress Amber Heard announced her production start on Twitter, citing her hard work and intense training in fulfilling the role of “Mera.” With a huge announcement like this, director James Wan celebrated the occasion through a photo of his own.

Behold, the first full look at Heard as Mera, Queen of the Sea and wife to Momoa’s “Aquaman.” The photo features a more faithful look of the character in the comics as compared to “Aquaman’s” upgraded look. “Mera” sports a fiery red hair and a green body suit. It’s hard to tell which scene this image fits, but judging by her facial expression, this might tease her first time to come up on the dry world of the humans.
This certainly does well for Wan’s authentic vision for one of DC’s underrated properties, in which the studio also hopes to redeem the mixed reactions and negative path that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad” took.
Heard also shared her own version of the photo, which you can check out below:

It’s too early to tell how “Aquaman” would do, but it’s also hard to not be infected by the excitement of the entire crew and production of the movie. With a solid director such as Wan and the stunning visuals of “Mera” and “Aquaman’s” costume, this might just be the turning point that the DC Extended Universe is looking for.
“Aquaman” is set to hit theaters December 21, 2018, but a first glance at the King of Atlantis will be seen once “Justice League” is released this November 17, 2017.
