Alleged Plot for Marvel's Thunderbolts will Turn the Dead Celestial into Mutant Island of Genosha

With Wakanda Forever making the search for Vibranium a very critical plot point, it seems that the Thunderbolts film could also be acquiring a valuable fictional metal.

As per insider Daniel RPK (via @MCUSource), the plot of Thunderbolts will have the team going on a mission to obtain Adamantium, the indestructible metal that Wolverine’s bones are coated in. Here’s the post:

Nothing official has been revealed about the film, but it does make sense from  a world-building standpoint. Marvel Studios has already dropped hints at mutants with Ms. Marvel and Namor in Black Panther 2, so it would track if they wanted to keep introducing mutant elements like the island of Genosha.

If anything, it could be a great use of that plot point from Eternals which doesn’t seem to have been addressed in any of the materials that came after it. I’m pretty sure a mass of land in the form of a celestial would have turned someone’s head in the MCU—especially since it marks a moment where the Earth was almost completely destroyed.

While I’m not expecting Genosha to be a mutant haven, I like the idea of it being used a secret facility to house captive mutants, harkening back to its comic origin where Genosha was a nation that thrived on the use of mutant slaves. Maybe Marvel can start planting seeds for anti-mutant sentiment, which I think is very necessary when it comes to telling the overall story of the X-Men and mutants in Marvel in general.

Until we get an official reveal, all we can really do is wait.

Thunderbolts is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024.
