Alaqua Cox made her debut as Maya Lopez in Hawkeye, but she’s now set to take the spotlight with her own Disney+ show, Echo. While we expect the series to introduce a bunch of new characters, a rumor has suggested that we would be seeing some Marvel fan favorites—specifically Daredevil and Kingpin.
According to The Direct, costume designer Stacy Caballero had posted up her resume online, and it reveals all the films that she had worked for recently. Under each title reveals the main actors of the cast, and underneath Echo is listed the actors Alaqua Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk/Kingpin), and Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil).
Ever since the news broke out, Caballero had now made her Instagram private and removed any mention of Echo from her resume and website, but the genie has been let out of the bottle and rumors are now spreading online.
If anything, it makes a lot of sense for both Kingpin and Daredevil to show up in the series. Kingpin is a close uncle to Maya and we saw them clash with each other by the end of Hawkeye. As for Daredevil, the two share in the fact that they are both capable fighters who somehow manage with a handicap.
While I would think that Kingpin has a bigger presence in the show, I think Maya’s interactions with Daredevil will mostly be with him as Matt Murdock. I’m guessing Maya could get into trouble because of her connection with Kingpin, and Matt will be there to bail her out, seeing that he also has a history with Fisk and wants to help Maya.
This is just speculation on my part, but like Shang-Chi, I think this movie needs an appearance from some major fan-favorites if Marvel wants more people to check it out.
Echo has no official release date, but it’s likely it will hit Disney+ in 2023.
