Disney+ may be gearing up for the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi soon, but we’re also getting the Ahsoka series as well, starring Rosario Dawson. The cast is slowly getting fleshed out, and a new member has been announced via The Hollywood Reporter.
THR reports that Ray Stevenson (Punisher: War Zone, Thor) has been cast in Ahsoka. No details have been revealed for who Stevenson will play, but the site does confirm that he won’t be playing Thrawn, the Imperial that Ahsoka was looking for in The Mandalorian Season 2.
If anything, Stevenson is no stranger to Star Wars, and has voiced Mandalorian Gar Saxon in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels. Stevenson is very much in shape to play a live-action version of Saxon, but seeing as the character is dead by the time of The Mandalorian, he could be playing someone else—either that or he plays Saxon in a flashback.
If anything, Star Wars has been pretty liberal when it comes to casting voice actors as the live-action version of their characters. Though they did get Katee Sackhoff to play Bo-Katan in live-action and animation, they got a completely new actress to be the live-action Ahsoka. Jon Favreau was also Pre Vizsla in The Clone Wars, but he played his descendant Paz Vizsla in Mando.
We don’t know when we’ll get our first look at the Ahsoka series, but I have a feeling it’s going to come by the finale of Obi-Wan; either that or we get a teaser for Andor starring Diego Luna.
No release date has been set for Ahsoka, but you can catch Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney+ when it premieres May 25.
