Adele is returning to Saturday Night Live after five years but not as a guest.
The Hello singer will be taking over as host for the first time on SNL’s upcoming October 24 episode. Adele first appeared on the show back on October 18, 2008, as a musical guest. Seven years later, she made another appearance on November 21, 2015.
The English singer-songwriter will be featuring H.E.R. who will be making her first musical guest appearance on SNL.
After the show announced the news on Sunday, Adele took to social media to share her excitement.
“Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!! I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right,” the singer wrote in the post’s caption. “But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the deep end with our eyes closed and hope for the best it’s 2020 right?”
She also raved about her musical guest, H.E.R. and noted that the episode almost exactly hits her 12th-year anniversary since she first appeared on the show.
“It’ll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election…which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn’t possibly say no!” Adele wrote. “I am besides myself that H.E.R will be the musical guest!! I love her SO much I can’t wait to melt into a flaming hot mess when she performs, then confuse myself while I laugh my arse off in between it all.”
H.E.R. also expressed her excitement on social media simply tweeting out, “I can’t wait!!!! #SNL”
Adele last released music in 2015 with her album 25. Though fans have been asking the singer-songwriter on social media about when she’ll next release music, Adele has given no definite answers.
