Netflix animation may have taken a big hit a few months ago, but we’re still getting a second season of Inside Job from creator Shion Takeuchi. Now we have a new clip from the series that introduces us to a new character Ron Statler voiced by Adam Scott.
Watch this:
We essentially follow Reagan as she updates us on what happened in the last season finale with Rand taking over Incognito and Reagan powerless to do anything about it. Though Reagan is part of the Deep State, it has been confirmed that there are plenty of other shadow organizations who also help the world turn in secret, and that’s where Ron Statler comes in, who is someone who works for the Illuminati.
Just based off the interaction between Reagan and Ron, it seems that the show is going to be giving them some kind of will-they-won’t-they chemistry. It seems that Ron is kind of the Reagan of his shadow organization, and the two could end up teaming up to further both their causes.
Having Scott and Lizzy Caplan paired together is actually kind of exciting, because the two were the main couple of cult series Party Down. Though that series got cancelled, it’s great to see Scott and Caplan working together on something again, because they both had good chemistry.
Going back to Inside Job, the series is actually pretty great, and Takeuchi brings a lot of that Gravity Falls energy into the series, from the terrific puns to topical references. We don’t know how long Netflix plans the series to run, but it’s probably one of my favorite animated shows since BoJack Horseman.
The second season of Inside Job returns to Netflix on Nov. 18.
