Adam Sandler Teaming Up with the Safdie Brothers for another Film

Adam Sandler may get flak for how ‘dumb’ his comedy movies are, but every once in a while he managed to team-up with some critically praised directors for some serious projects. Sandler had delivered with the Safdie brothers with Uncut Gems, and now it looks like they’re teaming up for one more movie.
According to Deadline, Sandler has teamed up with Josh and Benny Safdie for an upcoming feature on Netflix. We have no details when it comes to the plot yet, but it’s said that the story will revolve around the world of high-end card collecting.
With Uncut Gems focusing on the underground world of jewelry, a film about high-end card collecting seems to be on-brand for the Safdie brothers. While the plot does sound pretty plain, the pair have managed to deliver movies that have a very unique and tense feel—and audiences are usually shocked by the way things tend to do south in the movies.
No release date has been announced for the next Sandler/Safdie project, but the movie is said to be aiming for a shoot in the second quarter of 2023, so we should expect a release sometime around 2024. With the Safdie brothers being known for their self-destructive protagonists, I hope that they manage to go another direction with Sandler this time around, because I’m sure fans would like to see something different from the collaborative group after Uncut Gems.
In the meantime, you can check out Sandler in Hustle now streaming on Netflix.
