We got several versions of Spider-Man in Into the Spider-Verse, but Sony is set to bring us even more with the upcoming sequel Across the Spider-Verse. One fan-favorite from the comics that will be brought to the film is Spider-Punk, and it looks like they’ll be changing his character for the film.
As per some merch description, Spider-Punk in the film is actually British. The description reads:
“Spider-Punk is a British punk rock Spider-Man with a wicked electric guitar.”

In the comics, Spider-Punk is Hobart Brown who was based in New York City who stood up against President Norman Osborn. His design was originally supposed to be for Spider-UK (William Braddock), but the concept was scrapped and reworked into Spider-Punk.
We don’t know which version of Spider-Punk will be in the movie, but it’s very possible that they would take liberties with this iteration. After all, they already genderbent Cyborg Spider-Man into Cyborg Spider-Woman.
So far, new Spider-characters that have been confirmed for the film include Spider-Punk, Spider-Man 2099, Cyborg Spider-Woman, and Scarlet Spider. There have also been rumblings about a Japanese Spider-Man (complete with giant mech Leopardon), but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. On the villain side of things, it’s said that the main adversary will be the portal-wielding Spot, but the previews may also hint a clash with Spider-Man 2099.
Hopefully we get a new trailer drop soon.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part 1 hits cinemas on June 2, 2023.
