Before Phil Lord and Chris Miller were producing hit films like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, they teamed up with Ted Lasso’s Bill Lawrence for an animated series called Clone High. The show had run from 2002 to 2003, and now 20 years later, the clones of Abraham Lincoln, Joan of Arc, JFK, and more are back.
Here’s the trailer for the Clone High revival:
The official synopsis reads:
Historical figures who have been cloned and placed back in high school, including Abraham Lincoln, Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, John F. Kennedy and more, as they face the trials of normal teenage life.
The series brings back the main cast from the original, with one exception being Ghandi, who was considered to be an offensive depiction by India. Despite Ghandi not being in the new series, the show has brought in some new characters, them being clones of Confucius, Frida Kahlo, and Harriet Tubman.
The idea of historical figures as modern-day teens is actually a pretty wild concept, and it’s interesting how they managed to update the show by having all the characters frozen and having them wake up in the modern times during the age of smartphones and Tiktok.
We don’t know how long the Clone High revival plans to run, but after several series got axed by the WB Discovery takeover, it was pretty impressive that this show managed to make the cut.
No specific release date has been announced for Clone High but you can watch out for it on HBO Max sometime this Spring.
