South Korea has been the recent source of a rejuvenation of the zombie genre with films like Train to Busan and the series Kingdom. With that being said, Netflix has dropped the trailer for their upcoming South Korea-based zombie series, All of Us are Dead.
Check it:
The official logline reads: “All of us will die. There is no hope.” The school turned into a bloody battleground and our friends into worst enemies. Who will make it out alive?
According to Variety, the series is actually based on a webcomic from Joo Dong-geun called Now at Our School, and it follows a group of students who are trapped in their school which has become ground zero for a zombie outbreak. All of Us are Dead is directed by J.Q. Lee and Kim Nam-su and is written by Chun Sung-il. The cast includes Yoon Chan-young, Cho Yi-hyun, Park Ji-hu, Lim Jae-hyeok, Lee You-mi, Yoo-In-soo, and Park Solomon (or Lomon).
With Busan and Kingdom all giving their own original twist to the zombie story, All of Us are Dead will be unique in the sense that it gives us a high school setting with teens as the main characters. No doubt these kids will have their own drama to deal with before the zombie outbreak, and things will just intensify as their lives are suddenly thrown in the middle of a bloody life-or-death situation.
After the success of Squid Game, Netflix is sure trying to bank in on a sudden interest on K-series. Hopefully we’re just seeing the beginning of the trend and not well past its peak.
Catch All of Us are Dead when it premieres on Netflix on Jan. 28.
