5 Things to Know About Bones’ Season 9 Finale

Bones will play out its ninth season finale on Monday May 19th. Fans should know that the episode will deliver some of the show’s largest surprises to date. Part action movie, part conspiracy thriller and all heart, this is one that won’t be forgotten in a hurry.
Entitled “The Recluse in the Recliner” the episode, directed by David Boreanaz, will see Booth’s position in the FBI coming under scrutiny when his involvement in the investigation into the death of a blogger who tried to divulge secrets to him shortly before his untimely death opens a can of very ugly worms.
What was the blogger’s relationship to the McNamaras (they of Ghost Killer fame)? Just how is Booth implicated, and what game changing events will cause Brennan and Booth’s relationship to suffer, as Boreanaz and Deschanel previewed to ScreenSpy on a call yesterday, “a detrimental change”?
We’re fresh off a screening of the finale episode, and although we can’t outright spoil you, we can declassify the following:
A Cold and Shocking Open
This might just be the most dramatic cold open the show has produced in nine years. We kid you not. Be prepared for a huge horrible initial surprise and have some kleenex handy. If you don’t need them in the first five minutes, you certainly will in the final five.
Trouble in Paradise
The Jeffersonian’s latest case directly impinges on Booth’s upcoming interview with the Congressional Sub Committee. Poised for a new life in Germany as head of the Berlin field office, the last thing Booth needs now is to be associated with a case that causes his assessors to look upon him unfavourably. However those pesky little case details just won’t seem to go away, and the more Booth and Brennan dig, the uglier it all becomes. And speaking of ugly, get ready to see our favorite TV couple trading some very angry words about the rights and wrongs of this one. Would a passionate “I hate you!” surprise you?

A Shoe In … For a Public Shaming
Booth’s a shoe in for this gig in Berlin. He’s even learning the lingo over breakfast. However his hearing with the Congressional Sub committee may bring up more than his achievements and plans for the future. Leaked classified documents concerning a particular incendiary incident from Booth’s past, for example. Careful boys, Booth can air dirty laundry with the best of them, when provoked.
Action Hero
You caught that bit above about “part action movie” right? The latter half of this episode plays out like it was intended for the big screen as Booth leans on his Ranger skills to take on not one but three Delta Force assassins sent to murder him in his own home. How attached are you to Brennan and Booth’s beautiful house? Not very, we hope. When we spoke to David Boreanaz about directing this episode, he described the process as “exhausting.” Now we understand why.
Where to From Here?
Talk about a cliffhanger ending! We hope you saved some kleenex for this one. Fans wondering where the series might go in season 10 will have all the answers they need from these final five minutes. We can’t wait to see what happens next.
