Probably one of the most celebrated roles for Tony Shalhoub is that of Adrian Monk, the brilliant detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The series had run for eight seasons back in the ‘00s, but the show is set to make a comeback.
As per the official announcement on Peacock, Mr. Monk is going to be solving one more case in an upcoming film. Here’s the announcement:

Here’s the synopsis for the film:
It follows Monk, a brilliant detective with obsessive-compulsive disorder. He returns to solve one last case involving his stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding.
The movie is set to bring back a lot of the major cast mates of the series like Ted Levine, Traylor Howard, and Hector Elizondo. The script also comes from the series creator Andy Breckman with Randy Zisk at the helm to direct. I wonder if they’ll be bringing back Randy Newman to provide the music, after all, he did provide the series intro.
Though the series had ended back in 2009, Shalhoub has found other ways to reprise the character. The most recent being the Peacock At-Home Variety Show, which had us follow Monk coping with the pandemic. We don’t know if the film will have the pandemic as canon, but it’s going to be interesting to see how Monk comes out of it—especially with his condition.
No release date has been set for Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie, but hopefully it can come out on Peacock sometime in 2023. For now, catch up on eight seasons of Monk now streaming on Peacock.
