A lot of Marvel fans are excited to see Jonathan Majors’ Kang take on Ant-Man next month, but we had already met a version of Kang in the finale for Disney+’s Loki last year. Though ‘He Who Remains’ was essentially killed by Sylvie in the show, it looks like we’re going to be seeing more variants of him in the second season.
Insider Daniel Richtman (via ComicBookMovie) reports that multiple variants of Kang will be appearing in the second season of Loki, with Jonathan Majors reprising the role. While we don’t have more details beyond that, this was exactly what ‘He Who Remains’ foreshadowed in the finale, with ‘worse’ versions of himself coming from multiple realities to conquer the Multiverse.
Though we don’t have much details on Kang, the second season is also said to be introducing the concept of a ‘Time Loom’, and it’s said to be the source of the TVA’s power with them drawing energy from the time stream.
Going back to Kang though, I expect his role in this season to be as substantial as the first one, but I wouldn’t mind if Majors showed up for more of the show. I’m actually guessing that variants of Kang are going to start showing up in all the Marvel Phase 5 films, building up to his eventual ‘dynasty’ in the next Avengers movie.
Then again, that’s just speculation on my part.
Loki 2 is expected to come out later this summer, but you can catch Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which comes to theaters on Feb. 16.
