Kamala isn’t Alone in New Teaser Promo for Ms. Marvel

Marvel just had a big week last week with the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the Moon Knight finale, but there’s one other Marvel show that Disney+ is hyping fans up for.

Just in, we have a new teaser promo for next month’s Ms. Marvel. Watch this:

Though we don’t get much of the overall story, we do get to see more of Kamala’s powers in the series. While Marvel Studios has been keeping a good track record when it comes to comic-accuracy, they’ve decided to a go a completely different direction when it comes to Ms. Marvel—specifically when it comes to her powers.

It’s rumoured that in the Disney+ series, Kamala receives her powers from a magical bracelet that allows her to come up with huge, crystal-like projections—kind of like Green Lantern. In the comics, Kamala was an inhuman who had the power to shapeshift.

We don’t know why Marvel decided to make the change in Kamala’s origin, but I have a feeling they wanted her story to be more closely tied to Captain Marvel, who is also a cosmic character. Some also speculated that they decided to forgo the shapeshifting powers since they look a lot like Reed Richards’ a.k.a. Mr. Fantastic.

With Moon Knight focusing on a completely different superhero, it’s going to be interesting to see the MCU from Kamala’s eyes—seeing that she herself is a huge Avengers fan. Would she manage to prove herself among the other metahumans? We’ll just have to wait and see to find out.

Ms. Marvel starts streaming on Disney+ this June 8.
