Nicolas Cage has had a lot of roles in the past, but the one that people are waiting for is Cage himself with The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. The film is set to officially premiere next week, and we have a new clip featuring Cage, Tiffany Haddish, and Ike Barinholtz.
Watch this:
Based on the film’s synopsis, it seems that Haddish and Barinholtz are playing CIA operatives who hire an unwitting Cage to do their spying for them. We don’t know exactly when Cage gets in on the deal, but it’s going to be just fun watching him react to who is written to be his biggest fan (played by Pedro Pascal).
While it has been debated on whether Cage really is a good or bad actor (see Community), there has been a recent consensus to understand that Cage truly is an artist dedicated to the craft. While he has had some weird roles in the past, some are chalking this up to him just trying to get out of his money troubles—a meta-element that this movie seems to be poking fun at.
It’s going to be fun to watch Cage revisit his filmography, and if reviews are to be believed, this film is going to be one hell of a fun ride.
Nicolas Cage stars as… Nick Cage in the action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan (Pedro Pascal). Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nick Cage.
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent hits theaters on April 22.
