Sony Drops New Trailer for Where the Crawdads Sing

Delia Owens’ Where the Crawdads Sing was a book that came out way back in 2018, and now four years later, we have a trailer for the movie adaptation from Sony Entertainment.

Watch this:

Here’s the official description:

From the best-selling novel comes a captivating mystery. Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

The movie is being directed by Olivia Newman, who is the same person behind Netflix First Match which came out back in 2018. The script comes from Lucy Alibar who has written screenplays for Beasts of the Southern Wild as well as Troop Zero.

Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays the lead ‘Marsh Girl’ is also best known for her work on the series Normal People. Harris Dickinson has also been the lead of a recent blockbuster action movie, The King’s Man from director Matthew Vaughn.

If anything, it looks like a YA story with a mystery twist. I’m sure there will also be some Taylor Swift fans in it for the new song that she wrote for the movie.

Where the Crawdads Sing is set to come out on July 15.
