2017 was the last time we saw a Planet of the Apes movie, but 20th Century Studios has been hard at work trying to bring back one of their biggest sci-fi franchises. Thanks to THR, we now have an official title for the next Apes movie, and we also have some key art.
As per the official reveal, the next Apes movie is called Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. We don’t have an official rundown of the story yet, but 20th Century Studios president Steve Asbell does say in a statement:
“Planet of the Apes is one of the most iconic and storied science fiction franchises in film history, as well as being an indelible part of our studio’s legacy… With Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes we are privileged to continue the series’ tradition of imaginative, thought-provoking cinema, and can’t wait to share Wes’ extraordinary vision for this new chapter with audiences in 2024.”
A new saga begins.
“Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,” picking up many years after “War for the Planet of the Apes,” starts production next month and stars Owen Teague, Freya Allen, and Peter Macon. Directed by Wes Ball, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes” arrives in 2024. pic.twitter.com/RqnL4I44pw

While Andy Serkis has played the lead ape Caesar throughout the course of the three latest Apes movies, we are now set to have a new lead with Owen Teague. We don’t know what kind of story we can expect from the series, but we are jumping several years into the future, where the humans have started to die out, and the apes have continued to advance their society.
Until we get more reveals, all we can do is guess.
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is set to release sometime in 2024.
